You could argue that popular trends in fashion are steered by the whims of designers and magazines. This is inevitably true. Still, it’s true that movements if fashion, as in other arts, are inspired by the populace. Art imitates life imitates art. And so it goes that the spirit that brought jet black and blood red to their current front row status in fashion has shown itself in all of pop culture.
Bands like Evanescence have brought a darker edge to pop music – with their sound and their look. The band is sometimes characterized as gothic rock or nu metal, but with frontwoman Amy Lee’s sweet voice, the band can hardly be called real metal.
